We took our test run from Chicago to Milwaukee on this great day of high winds and 43 degree weather to go and visit with the faculty and students of The Inland Seas School of Expeditionary Learning. We loaded up our our rides and hit the road anxious and excited for the destination and the journey…
Gearing up for the road! AJ adding his Bowls stickers to his Ruckus.
Evan’s odometer reading before hitting the road.
AJ’s Ruckus was having problems starting
For 2 hours.
Changing the spark plug to see if that would help. IT DID…Thank you BOWLS!
Food time…. gotta have our McNuggets!
Shoreline in Glencoe, IL. Arfa tinkering with the GoPro camera.

Reached the Border. The big fancy wood “Wisconsin Welcomes You” was just past this. We thought this was all we got haha.
Odometer at the end of the trip.

Arrived at the school. Parked the scoots.
Touring the school. Great quote banners hung all around. Love it!
The school had a huge full featured wood-shop! Many of the school’s courses and after school programs use this and give the kids some real hands on experience! I think they were working on the base of a boat in this picture.

One of the after school programs we got to witness was one in which the kids were able to take the canoes out on the river with their instructor Jesse. This is one of the kids favorite things to do and the school is built right on the river so its super easy to accommodate.
We arrived just as school was getting out so we only had a chance to speak the kids who were still around for their after school programs. Tomorrow morning we will speak with the entire school at their morning assembly, and then it’s back to Chicago!

Tomorrow we take a big step in the project - riding approximately 90 miles to visit The Inland Seas School of Expeditionary Learning to meet with the students and faculty face to face! It’s looking like it’s going to be a bit on the brisk side with a high of 43. Could be a lot worse, we’ve ridden in 18 degrees earlier this year! So 40s are lookin good!
We’re going to document the whole trip up and back as best we can, so stay tuned for updates!
If you use Twitter, we’ll be doing live mini updates all day - twitter.com/3men1lake

Thanks again to all those who have donate so far! You guys rock! Please continue to spread the word and remember if you haven’t donated already, it only takes a quick minute and you can do so by clicking “Chip In” button in the top right or by clicking HERE. And remember you do not need a PayPal Account to donate, that is just the online service we are using.

I just wanted to thank the person who donated one dollar to our cause. This really shows that every little bit helps. If everyone donated even just one dollar we would be well on our way to meeting our goal. Thank you Carl and I hope this shows that a little help can go a long way!

A big thank you goes out to Christina for being the first to donate to our cause. We also want to thank Dana Fox for the kind donation today! This organization will only grow with the help of the community and these people should be proud to be some of the first to step up and help out!

Austin was amazing! Beautiful city, really sweet people and a huge scooter scene! We handed out a ton of promotional cards around the city, even chased down a couple people while they were riding to tell them about the site and the cause! Although we haven’t heard back from any filmmakers yet, we sure did get the word out! Don’t fret, film crew or not, the journey will still go down, even if it means duct-taping some cameras to our helmets and scooters! We’d prefer something higher quality but will do whatever it takes to document this for you guys!
If you or anyone you know happens to be a filmmaker or documentary filmmaker please be sure to contact us if interested
Lots of pre-planning ahead! Be sure to let us know any thoughts/ideas you guys have, things you would like to see accomplished along the way, or even before we depart. We love hearing from you guys!
Also, I’d like to give a huge shout out to David! We met him the first night we were in town and he was cruisin’ around on his brand new red Honda Ruckus…WEARING SOCKS AS GLOVES! Talk about dedication! Mind you it was in the low 50’s (warm to us, brisk to them). I wonder if they even sell gloves in Texas?

AJ and I are currently at one of the largest Film/Music/Interactive festivals in the country, South By Southwest in Austin, TX… or SXSW as it’s commonly referred to as.
We will be meeting lots of amazing people on this journey and we already came across 2 Ruckus owners within the first few hours of being down here! Info cards will be handed out and posted all around the city until we run out!! hopefully they stay up or at last a few hours
If you are a filmmaker and have any interest in getting involved with project we would love to speak with you! We would love to get a film crew to follow and document our journey. If you can help us or have any ideas please shoot us an email, leave a comment and/or tell your friends. You can reach us at 3men1lake@gmail.com or through the Contact Us form on this website.
We will be here through the 22nd so if you are interested in meeting up and discussing our trip we would be more than happy to grab lunch or exchange ideas.

Everyday we seem to be making more and more progress leading up to the journey. As you may have noticed we have added our new Donations Widget at the top right of the main page. We will be accepting donations starting today and encourage you to dig deep in your couches, wallets, and piggy banks and donate what you can. No amount is too small (or too big for that matter). Donations made will help provide The Inland Seas School with necessary educational equipment to be used throughout the year through activities such as environmental field studies, outdoor physical adventures, small boatbuilding, sea education experiences, experience-based learning and much more.
Donations are processed through PayPal, however you do NOT need a PayPal account to make a donation. Simply follow the instructions for “Non PayPal Account” payments. All major credit and bank cards are accepted. Contact us should you encounter any problems.

Thursday finally came and it arrived bearing it’s promised gift of +50 degree weather! The three of us (plus one pal) hit the streets of Chicago and hit the lake for a 3Men1Lake photo shoot ! Here’s a sneak peak! (more to come).

Sittin’ pretty

“The Windy City” living up to it’s name. Notice the ice chunks still in Lake Michigan. Polar Plunge anyone!

The kind folks at NOS Energy Drink have come on board as a sponsor of 3men1lake!
We are stoked about this, and are definitely going to need that Human Horsepower along the way!
We drink this tasty beverage on the daily! For those who don’t know it has the highest caffeine content out of all the mainstream energy drinks out there! (more then Redbull and Monster!!) And it actually tastes good! Check out http://www.drinknos.com for more info.

Guys and Girls,
If you believe in us and the cause please donate something, even a dollar. Until we get the button from LearnTheSeas you will just have to indicate whether you are donating for our actual costs, the organization or both (in which case specify which amount to each). Everyone who donates will get a little something special from us and our sponsors.
